The Association of Friends of Clausthal University of Technology is an association of over 1,500 graduates, scientists and companies who feel closely connected to Clausthal University of Technology. It offers a forum for exchange and contact for students, graduates, business and the university.
The "Verein", as its members respectfully call it, was founded on August 27, 1921 by graduates of the old Bergakademie. These miners and metallurgists aimed to help the university and its student body in the difficult times after the First World War.
The aim of the association is to promote teaching and research in the network of science and industry at Clausthal University of Technology and to support the students. Many of the support measures that the association has been providing for decades often require start-up funding to get a project off the ground. In general, the association helps the university where state funding is not available or not sufficient: Academic conferences and excursions, better equipment for university sports, and much more.
