Purpose of the foundation
The mission of the Georgsmarienhütte Steelworks Foundation is to bundle and strengthen the socio-political, educational, cultural and social commitment of companies and society. Promoting youth and elderly care, public health and sport are just as much a part of the foundation's purpose as supporting art and culture, education, training and science. The foundation's tasks also include environmental, consumer and animal protection.
Projects
As part of its commitment to education policy, the Stahlwerk Foundation supports, among other things, engineering and science studies; the foundation awards scholarships for this purpose(www.stiftung-stahlwerk.de). In addition, it awards a study prize for a bachelor's thesis with a final grade of 2.0 or better, written at Clausthal University of Technology in the fields of metallurgy, materials science and materials engineering as well as welding technology and cutting processes. The prize is endowed with 2,000 euros.
Applications
All students at Clausthal University of Technology who have completed their Bachelor's thesis and written it in the field of production and processing of iron, steel and aluminum materials (final grade 2.0 or better) are eligible to apply. The application must be submitted in the year in which the Bachelor's thesis was finally assessed and returned to the student, but no later than the following calendar year.
Selection
A board of trustees will select theses that have been received by the Secretariat 3 of the Institute of Metallurgy by December 31 of each year. Rejections will be issued in writing, but no reasons will be given. There is no legal entitlement to the allocation of foundation funds.
Conditions of participation
Please send the completed application documents, three printed copies of the Bachelor's thesis and one electronic copy (werkstoffumformung@tu-clausthal.de) to Secretariat 3 of the Institute of Metallurgy at Clausthal University of Technology by December 31 of each year. The Bachelor's theses are assessed by the end of March by a board of trustees appointed by the Stiftung Stahlwerk. There is no legal entitlement to the allocation of foundation funds.
